A hard day at the office:
After a very long time I had back to back and overlapping clients in town. As a Realtor this is the best of times and it can be the worst of times...I had flash backs to 2005 when the market was full of steam. There is a certain amount of stress and angst when you are being pulled by clients that need your expertise to find that perfect place in the sun for them. The office and my compatriots had the "deer in the headlights" look in their eyes. Almost everyone was busy and in a rush....just like 2005. Those past long, lingering conversations were short and to the point. It was a good, good feeling. that feeling of optimism and possibilities. It has been a long time in coming. This time last year we were just starting to feel the brunt of the sub prime mess. The phones weren't ringing, people were not stopping into the office to check out properties from the window, emails were not being returned.....it was tragic.
In the midst of all this crazy activity I was showing property to a lovely couple from the northeast. The view from the front window was of the bay overlooking Venetian Village and the back window was of the Gulf of Mexico. The Gulf looked alive with the bright sun shimmering on it. As we stood looking at the Gulf a beautiful sail boat slipped past us in it's slow, majestic way. We all just stood their and silently took in the sight. Welcome to my world...and I wouldn't do anything to change it. With all the stress involved in research, selection, appointment setting and then showing, it is easy to forget about the beauty that surrounds us everyday in Naples. The water, the sun, the vegetation and the blue, blue sky.
My wish is that you get the chance to live a part of your life in Naples. I have travelled the world and would be hard pressed not to say that I live in one of the most wonderful places on earth! And oh, by the way, this is my office and it's really not that hard to take.
Enjoy the day.
